Hi! Just stopped by to congratulate you on your win! Feel free to stop by anytime!!
Tuesday, June 19th 2007 - This entry is a combinaiton of two previous posts. I'm changing the date of this entry to Saturday, March 24th 2007.
It's Spring Break! One week of bliss! Too bad it doesn't concide with Easter. We could have had more time off... Well, we're finally done with the musical which means I went to CC rehearsal and tumbling for the first time in weeks. High School Musical for the Saturday matinee was canceled. The performance was moved to Sunday night at 7 PM. I was reduced to doing my biology homework between scenes... talk about time crunch
In bio, we've been learning about the cell cycle, mitosis, and meiosis. As if we needed to know that. I won't be contemplating the functionality of the G1 phase or the purpose of the mitotic apparatus anytime soon. What a bucket load of crap. We had so much stuff to do and we have even more over break. As for western civ, we're learning about the Industrial Revolution. I appreciate the invention of computers and all but I don't care about the spinning jenny. It sounds like a maniacal little girl.
In English, we are doing oral reports. Our bibliographies were due Tuesday so I stayed up really late Monday night to get it perfect. Can you believe her grading system? 0 mistakes = A, 1 miskate = C, more than 1 mistake = F; I mean, she might as well fail us for the marking period! We aren't even allowed to add more sources as we go along. Anyway, the works cited sheet was due today, and our list of facts and report are due after break.
What else did I fail to mention? Oh yes... recently, we've read A Separate Peace (the characters act gay but our teacher says no, they aren't), Of Mice and Men (it's sad and short), and now we're reading Oedipus (he had it coming). We've had quite a few essays and now there is that oral report. Can someone stab me and get it over with? I really don't feel like researching immigration. *hunts for a sharp pencil*
Also Tuesday, I was hit with a snowball when I was walking from the school to the bus... do I have a huge target sign on my back? It really hurt. It's not the first time it's happened and it makes me wonder if I have a "throw chunks of ice at me, I enjoy it" sign taped somewhere. I've talked to people and it's happened to them too. My friend says it must have been an inscure boy and another friend told me, "life hates you." I'm inclined to agree with both.
Wednesday, I had a math quiz which, I might add, I failed. Actually, 70 is a D but I almost failed on an English essay. She gave me an A on the content (she said it was "concise and very effective"!) but, I got a 67 (D) in mechanics becuase of ONE COMMA. Just because I failed to correct ONE MISTAKE OUT OF THREE. Seriously, a person who made 15 mistakes and corrected only 14 of them would still get an A. WTF is up with that? I SHOULDN'T BE PUNISHED FOR BEING A BETTER WRITER. I swear, one day, I'll get retribution.
So far, I've avoided mentioning Le Projet for French, assigned to us by the most wonderful student teacher ever... NOT. It took up so much of the time I need to sleep; even typing it here makes me tired. In short, we had to create a menu for a meal, find a recipe, make a shopping list, write about where we'll buy the stuff on the list, set prices for our little "shop," gather items for the "shop," AND buy items from the other "shops" ...IN FRENCH. What a complete waste of time. I bet he'll deduct a million points because he thinks we're all stupid and we don't have the lovely accent *sarcasm* he does when he speaks French. Did I mention it was all videotaped today? No wonder a lot of people were missing in class. What better time to plan a vacation? Then again, they'll have to do a one-on-one type of make up grade for him so I don't envy them. Vous desirez? Je ne veux pas un F, s'il vous plait.
I spent my time last night revising the papers for that project and the nights before actually typing the thing amid all this other work that I had. A friend and I were the only ones in our group who bothered with it after that initial day in class. I suppose it's just as well because, in all honesty, I don't trust anyone else to write it out. I found two mistakes before I was going to hand it in. If I, being the meticulous person that I am, made two mistakes after I read it over countless times, I shudder to think of what our grade would be if someone who wasn't as picky had written it. The whole thing took up six pages and it was all in French except for our names which were obviously in English. I also spent last night hacking at an egg carton with a box cutter to make the four "une douzaine d'oeufs" representations needed for the "shop." As much as I like French and my French teacher, I still think this project from our French student teacher is tres stupide. I understand the value of knowing how to buy milk but really, wasting my life does not take priority over everything else.
Thursday, I had a western civ. quiz and a biology test... isn't that just a barrel of fun? It wasn't as bad I thought it would be but then again, I've failed all of my bio tests so far. I am so glad it's break. Now I can catch up on all the sleep I lost this week between the musical, school, and tumbling.
In summary, here's the work I have to do over break:
Biology: extra credit (my average is a 90 so I need to bump it up), "Protein Synthesis" packet/coloring plates/word list, and the key terms & people illustrations/descriptions.
English: list of facts & oral report prep. and vocab units 7 and 8.
Math: homework as usual... as if I'd remember anything when we come back.
French: evaluate group members (I'd better do it later because I'll just give everyone a zero with the mood I'm in).
It's not as bad as it could be but you can still feel sorry for me :[ Bon soir, folks.
J'ai sommeil. Au revoir, mes amies!
